Rather than post a video this week I think it's a great time to roll out something a long time coming. I've finally managed to finish the Metroid Prime 2: Echoes strategy guide, complete with bosses, items, logbook and obstacles guides along with the main walkthrough itself. This time I've been able to incorporate proper screenshots along with the guides, something I'll eventually go back and visit to spruce up the other guides with.
Naturally this piece took an incredible amount of effort to get together, so apologies if I take a quick trip to Hawaii for some serious R&R before I jump back in the driver's seat and start tackling Hunters content (and I sure hope the guide helps out anyone stuck in the game). Enjoy!
This week's video is another choice clip from the E3 2006 demo of Metroid Prime 3. In this 4-minute demo we see Samus fighting her old nemesis Ridley while plummeting down a 15 kilometre-long shaft. All in a day's work eh?
For this week's video we've got a 45-second official trailer of Metroid Prime 3, showing snippits of gameplay and new elements not seen before in the series. Now back to that Echoes guide, which should be done within the next few weeks...
Another section I've been meaning to gear up is a place to house Metroid-themed desktop wallpapers. To start the library I've put together two pieces so far using MP3 and Brawl artwork, so head over and see what you think. As these are also considered fan creations I'm up to receiving submissions from the community, so if you've put together your own wallpaper please feel free to send it in.
Since I've started adding more functionality to the site I decided to spruce up the news page a bit with the shiny new features bar you see above. Also, after running around in Youtube for a while and finding a plethora of Metroid-inspired videos, I figured it's a source of media you don't want to miss. So every Friday from now on I'll post an interesting new video from the crazy world of Metroid. So for today, we'll open it with a video of a hacker managing to reintegrate the unused Crocomire sprite in Zero Mission back into the game, replacing Kraid. Enjoy!
Joining Adam Vehinge's excellent depiction of Samus is a selection of Ivan Flores' work. Truly some gorgeous pieces in this bounty, be sure the check them out.
Some of you may remember the late Gunpei Yokoi, father of the Game Boy and Metroid (among other things), and follower of the "Lateral Thinking of Withered Technology" philosophy (which still survives to this day in the company). Lara Crigger put together a very interesting piece at The Escapist detailing Gunpei's activities and achievements while a member of the big N. It's a great insight and testament to his products, go read!
To kick off our Fan art gallery we have one very nice piece from Adam Vehige. Now I'd really rather not spam deviantart member's inboxes asking for art, so if you have any Metroid fan art or know of someone who does, please let me know and I'll help bring exposure to your work with your own gallery here.
