Today's video is a nice little package from Japan used in the marketing pre-release days of Metroid Fusion. On a final note, expect to see our Hunters guide coming up in the next few weeks.
Today I give you another special treat - the complete soundtrack from Metroid Prime in all its auditory awesomeness. Grab each track individually, or all in one go and enjoy the works of composer Kenji Yamamoto.
Normally I'd wait till Friday for the week's video but this one popping up recently is far too psychedelic to wait on. A very talented 3D animator by the name of Monty Oum has crafted an assault on the senses with this epic battle depicting the Master Chief of Halo fame battling it out with Samus in a thoughroughly Covenant-conquered cityscape. But with all the fun and games of the Wii60 phenomenon, these two shouldn't really be trying to tear each other's guts out, now should they? See the pair quickly find themselves teaming up against a Covenant onslaught after a (humourous) revealing of Samus' Zero Suit, and interpret the suprise ending any way you want (yes, in all fairness it is ambiguous). But enough talk, check out the action for yourself:
UPDATE: Halo megasite HBO is offering 640x480-sized downloads of the clip in Windows media and Quicktime formats if you want to keep this beauty.
Tonight's video leads a trio of other media picks. I've fired up two new wallpapers, and thanks again to the bounties of sound test modes, I've loaded up the soundtrack from Metroid: Zero Mission for your listening pleasure. As for the video, this commercial from the days of Metroid Prime 2 depicts a Samus-esuqe lady walking through a dark alley while metal pieces slowly construct a partial Varia Suit around her in a hurricane of some snazzy effects.
Just a quick housekeeping update today. I've added a pair of new fan art pieces and revamped the links page into separate categories to make it easier on the eyes. Along with that comes a welcome to our first Metroid-themed affiliate, Metroid Headquarters. Be sure to check out the bustling community there and a wealth of info on the state of Metroid fan-built games.
A new feature I've been hoping to setup are complete MP3 soundtrack recordings from the Metroid series, and tonight is where it begins with the soundtrack from Metroid Prime Hunters. The incredibly handy sound test mode in the game made this one a walk in the park, so feel free to swing by the new music page and download the tracks there for your listening pleasure. You'll need a free FilePlanet account to download any of the files, check the Metroid Prime Hunters Music page for more details. Enjoy!
Today's video takes us back to the pre-release advertising days of the original Metroid Prime. In this stunning rendition of a mix of live-action and brief gameplay shots put together by the local Australian folks at Animal Logic, we see (a real) Samus make her way through a similar environment to the Space Pirate Frigate right up to a final confrontation with the Parasite Queen.
