Just a quick note to welcome our latest two affiliates, Square Union and Final Fantasy XIII. Be sure to check them out if you're into the immense Final Fantasy saga for a wealth of content, media and news.
Phew, one step closer to the ultimate goal. Today the Metroid Prime 3 Bosses Guide (remember to watch out for spoilers!) and Obstacles sections are live, leaving only the Power-up Locations and Walkthrough left on the list. I've also made subtle updates for the rest of our MP3 content from simple text edits to updated screenshots. It might seem odd leaving the item locations guide second-last, but there's a method to this madness, and before long it'll be done.
I'd also like to take a moment to express my consolences for the loss of Mark Haigh-Hutchinson, lead promgrammer of Metroid Prime and one of the founders of Retro Studios. He also worked on notable Lucasarts Star Wars games including Dark Forces, Shadows of the Empire and Rogue Squadron, so chances are you've enjoyed the games his hard work helped construct over the years. Swing over to the Metroid Database for a memorial piece from CapCom, and have a read through Mark's Wikipedia article for more of his accomplishments in the gaming world.
At last we now have the final official date for Metroid Prime 3's debut in Japan: March 6th. One wonders why the release falls such a distance from other regions of the world, be it from translation work (the game did originate in the US, so it pays to reason that unlike Mario and Zelda the game was developed in English initially) or a deliberate push to clear it from the upcoming Smash Bros Brawl (which Japan gets in merely a few days!).
Either way, it's great to finally hear when Japanese Wii gamers can take Samus for a spin and find out what we've all been enjoying for so long now (just stay away from the Hypermode setting if you want to keep your sanity, okay?).
Ok, feeling better now. Special thanks to Alec and Kp7 for today's update, with the scanned Super Metroid manual and a special Metroid complete map for the Metroid Deluxe rom hack. Also be sure to check out our latest affiliate, Zelda Legacy, another great e-source for anything and everything in the world of Zelda.
Happy new year! It's been some time since my last update, unfortunately due to a very unpleasant experience. I'm still working away on the Metroid Prime 3 guides and have a piece of advice for you all already - don't play the Hypermode difficulty. Really.
I'm hoping to complete the bosses and obstacles guides next, but that won't be for some time yet (no spoilers, but I'll be honest: the game's cheap maneuver and ridiculous difficulty during the final boss fights on Hypermode has me very, very ticked off and extremely disappointed right now). I'll be back after the dust settles.
