Swing by the Smash Bros. Brawl section for a new Samus Overview covering everything from Samus and Zero Suit Samus' special moves to all the variety of ways to switch between her two signature forms. She's quite a versatile character with two completely unique movesets, so it's been great to see Nintendo giving her extra special treatment for the Wii's brawler.
Remember the Metroid E-Manga? It turns out those two chapters were only the tip of the iceberg. Back in 2004 a complete two-volume edition of the manga made a printed release in Japan, but of course without an English translation many of us were out of luck.
But thanks to the efforts of translators from SnoopyCool - a website dedicated to translating manga never released outside of Japan, we can now enjoy the complete story. Snoopy has very kindly allowed us to host a copy of Volume 1 here, while Volume 2 is yet to be translated.
If you have any trouble at all viewing the manga here, swing by SnoopyCool for a larger downloadable version. There's plenty of interesting story revelations and guest appearances from characters featured in the 2D series, so don't miss out on the entertaining read.
Still enjoying Smash Bros. Brawl? I can't get enough of it really :) To help celebrate the wonderful inclusion of Metroid-inspired content in the game, enjoy this new gallery of Samus in action throughout the game, thanks to this fantastic little piece of software known as BIN2JPG allowing the extraction of captured in-game screenshots from an SD card.
Some of the screenshots do contain hidden characters however, so please be wary of spoilers.
The Metroid music in the game is another very special treat for fans, and thanks to the in-game sound test mode I've snatched up copies of all the music from Samus' world. The compilation also includes the few tracks used in Smash Bros. Melee, so I've added the neat little Brinstar remix tune from Tetris DS as a bonus. Enjoy!
Ah well, no Metroid announcement at this year's E3... But despite the lack of any tangible news from LA, swing by Nintendo World Report for a deep and interesting article discussing Samus' foggy future. I would love to see some of the ideas raised come to fruition (switching between Samus' Power Suit and Zero Suit sounds interesting - give Smash Bros. Brawl's Subspace Emissary a go for a taste of that). All we can really do now is wait and see (but with the series going from three games to ten in around five years we can't really complain).
Surprise! Bet you didn't see this one coming! As you can see, we're now sporting a brand-new look two months in the making. I was hoping to keep this under wraps till our second anniversary in November, but that's still a mile away and with the new layout complete there's no point in holding it back.
I've completely reworked every page across the site, so while the navigation hasn't changed, everything now sports a new Metroid-inspired look and feel.
As we continue to be spoilt with new fan offerings, it's becoming tougher to keep up with the submissions. So I've setup a new bar beside the features above to help keep track of new additions - watch that space for the latest fan works. With this update comes a selection from all categories, along with a new affiliate! Check out Forgotten Memories if you're a big Square-Enix fan (Chrono Trigger DS is coming!).
Oh, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl is utterly fantastic, so if you haven't taken it for a spin yet don't hesitate. Our own Smash Bros. Brawl section will slowly grow over time with a few things I've got planned. As for the rest of the site, there's still plenty of things to do for future additions, so this new layout is just the beginning.
If you see any weird glitches or mistakes with the new change of wardrobe, please let me know. Enjoy!
