By now you've probably heard of the goodies found at NeoGAF recently: the "Metroid 1.5" design document and some snazzy art of the unused Kraid boss from Metroid Prime (including further behind-the-scenes images from the rest of the trilogy).
The design document is an extremely early concept for what eventually become Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, but is vastly alien from the final game's setting. There's some fantastic concept sketches (some of which should look familiar from the actual game's image gallery), and the lengthy document is worth a read for some very curious ideas. It's a great look into how early game proposals are shaped, and illustrates just how much they can change once the final game ships.
Community updates aplenty! Shinesparkers have loaded up an interview with Nate Bihldorff (Nintendo's senior localisation manager, and voice actor for the somewhat creepy quarantine officer in Metroid: Other M's opening tutorial). He offers some interesting comments on Other M's reception so it's well worth a read.
The MDb have also been busy translating Metroid Prime: Episode of Aether - the manga adaptation of Metroid Prime 2's story, now readable in English! They've also noted an inspiring article from the March 2011 issue of Nintendo Power magazine, highlighting the cosplay work of one Michelle Perl in her efforts to construct the Zero Suit and the crazy Justin Bailey outfit from the original Metroid. Michelle has faced a number of unfortunate circumstances in her life, but is coming out on top thanks to solid hard work and inspiration from none other than the character of Samus Aran. This is the kind of touching story we all need to hear - all the very best Michelle!
